Bespoke suits

An express suit in 12 hours, and what happens inside them

Twelve hours when your flight will not wait. The pattern is still cut for you and a fitting still happens. BTS National Stadium, Exit 3.

01

What happens inside the 12 hours

The whole sequence, compressed and run in order rather than shortened. Measured in the morning, drafted, cut, basted, fitted in the afternoon, finished and pressed by the evening. It works because the steps are the same ones as always and because nothing else is allowed onto the bench in front of it. It’s the same order every bespoke suit cut from your pattern follows — twelve hours changes the calendar, not the sequence.

Measuring and drafting

Come in early. You are measured and the pattern is drafted immediately afterwards — the same paper pattern as any other suit, drawn for your body. Cloth is chosen at the same visit, and it is worth arriving with an idea rather than spending an hour of the twelve on the books.

Cutting and basting

The cloth is cut to your pattern and the pieces are basted together. This is the stage that makes an express suit a real suit rather than a rushed one: you are still getting a garment that will be tried on and corrected before it is finished.

The fitting

You come back in the afternoon and stand in the basted suit. Corrections are marked and made straight away, which is why you have to be reachable and nearby for the middle of the day rather than out at the far end of the city.

02

What is not skipped

Two things, and they are the two that matter most.

Nothing in the twelve hours replaces the ordinary schedule; it compresses it. the fitting schedule sets out what the unhurried version looks like.

Your own pattern

A pattern is still drafted for your body. The express suit is not cut from a block in your approximate size with the seams let out — that is what a fast suit usually means elsewhere, and it is the thing this one is not.

A fitting before it is finished

You still try the suit on before it is finished, and corrections are still marked on you. What you lose is the second fitting, not the first.

03

When 12 hours is the wrong answer

When you have more time, which is more often than people think. The second fitting is the one that catches what the first missed, and giving it up for speed you did not need is a bad trade. It is also the wrong answer for a wedding party, where several people have to be right on the same day, and for a first suit from a tailor you have never used, where you would rather see the work twice. If you have two or three days rather than one, a 48-hour stopover, hour by hour shows what each of them buys you.

Booking it when you land

Booking an express suit takes three steps, and the first happens before you land.

  1. Message on WhatsApp before you land rather than after — 085 048 7655 — with your flight time and the date.
  2. Come in early on the day: the shop is inside BTS National Stadium station at exits 3 and 4, open 10am to 9pm every day.
  3. Stay reachable for the fitting later in the day.

That first message is the difference between an express suit being planned and being attempted. If you would rather be measured where you are staying, measuring at your hotel is available in central Bangkok.

Questions people ask

Can a suit really be made in twelve hours?
Yes, and it is a real suit rather than a rushed one: a paper pattern is still drafted for your body, the cloth is still cut to it, and you are still fitted on a basted garment before anything is finished. Measured in the morning, fitted in the afternoon, finished and pressed by the evening. What you give up is the second fitting, not the construction. Nothing about the construction changes: the jacket is canvassed the same way and the trousers are cut from the same pattern as any other order.
What do I have to do for it to work?
Come in early, be reachable and nearby in the middle of the day, and know roughly what you want before you arrive. An hour spent deciding between two cloths is an hour off the bench. Message on WhatsApp before you land with your flight time and the date, which is the single thing that turns an express suit from attempted into planned. Say what the suit is for when you message, because that narrows the cloth choice from a whole table to a handful before you even arrive.
What is actually skipped?
The second fitting, and only that. The pattern is still yours, the cloth is still cut to it, and you still try the suit on before it is finished. On most people the margin the second fitting would have caught is invisible. On a hard-to-fit body, or for a suit that has to be right in photographs, it is the difference.
Is a twelve-hour suit worse than a three-day one?
It is the same construction with one less look at it. Nobody here will tell you a rush is free: the second fitting is where a sleeve half an inch long or a collar that lifts when you move gets found. If you have two or three days rather than one, take them. If you do not, the express exists precisely for that. Two days is the version almost nobody plans for and the one to aim at: both fittings, nothing compressed, and you still fly out with the suit.
When is twelve hours the wrong choice?
When you have more time than you think, which is common. Also for a wedding party, where several people have to be right on the same day, and for a first suit from a tailor you have never used, where you would rather see the work twice. Tell us the dates and you will get a straight answer about which you are. It is also the wrong choice when you have not decided what you want, because an hour spent choosing between two navies is an hour off the bench.
Can I get shirts made in the same day?
Ask at the order. Shirts and suits are different jobs on the same bench, and what is possible depends on what else is on it that morning. The shop sets the date when you order. If a shirt matters more than the suit, say that at the order, because what reaches the bench first is the one part of the timing that can be arranged.
How do I book it?
WhatsApp 085 048 7655 with your dates and your flight time, before you arrive in Bangkok. The shop is inside BTS National Stadium station at exits 3 and 4, open 10am to 9pm every day. If getting to the station is the problem, hotel measuring is available in central Bangkok and is booked the same way. Send the arrival and the departure in the same message. The gap between them is what decides whether this is a twelve-hour job or an ordinary one.
What does an express suit cost compared to a normal one?
A suit starts from 6,000 THB on the ordinary timetable, and from 12,000 to 22,000 THB in premium cloth. Whether twelve hours changes that depends on what is already on the bench, so ask in the same message as your dates. You will have the figure before anything is cut and before you have committed to anything.

5 out of 5 stars

Had a very good experience having my first ever suit made by The Loft Tailors. Since we were just transiting via Bangkok during the start and end of our trip, wasn't sure if it was enough time to have a suit made. Turns out, it is possible with the Loft Tailors! ☺️ They were very professional and transparent with the process. Also very easy to get in touch with and very responsive.
