How to choose a tailor at MBK Center: seven checks before you order

Seven checks for choosing a tailor at MBK Center: the jacket, the pattern, fittings, reviews, price, deposit and what happens if it does not fit.

Four jackets hanging on a rail — cream, grey, dark green and navy

To choose a tailor at MBK Center, check the jacket, pattern, fittings, reviews, price, deposit and what happens if it doesn't fit. Each check is one question, and the same seven work on any tailor. You can make the reviews check from your phone before you walk in; the other six are made at the order, at the shop or on WhatsApp.

01

The seven checks, in order

The seven checks for choosing a tailor at MBK Center are these, each with the moment you can make it:

  1. Is the jacket canvassed (stitched chest layer) or fused (glued)? Ask at the order; check at a fitting.
  2. Is a paper pattern drafted for you, or is an existing block in roughly your size adjusted? Ask at the order.
  3. How many fittings are included, and when do they happen? Ask this at the order.
  4. Can each review be followed to its Google original? Check from your phone, before you walk in.
  5. Is the price explained, with the cloth, the construction and the fittings named? Ask at the order.
  6. Are the deposit and payment terms in writing? Ask for them before the cloth is cut.
  7. What happens if the suit doesn't fit? Ask at the order, and use the answer after collection.

02

What to check about how the suit is made

Check three things about how the suit is made: the construction of the jacket, the pattern and the fittings. Each one has a question you can ask at the order.

Canvassed or fused

A canvassed chest has a layer of stiffened cloth stitched between the outer cloth and the lining, and a fused chest has it glued. A fused front can bubble. Full canvas runs through the whole front; half canvas is canvas in the chest and fused below. Fusing is a legitimate way to build a jacket, and the fault is a fused suit sold as bespoke. Ask which of the three you're being quoted: full canvas, half canvas or fused. The guide on how to check a suit before you pay sets out five checks for a tailored suit.

A pattern drafted for you

A pattern drafted for you is a paper pattern drawn for your body from nothing. Made to measure takes an existing block in roughly your size and adjusts it. A shop can call a garment bespoke and still adjust a block, so ask. The shop that publishes this guide uses bespoke to mean a pattern cut for you, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard. Ask the question exactly like this: "Is a paper pattern drafted for me, or is a block adjusted?" Construction is a separate question from the pattern, because a drafted suit can be fused. The page on how a suit is made lists the ten steps, and bespoke or made to measure sets the two side by side.

Fittings, and what they do to your schedule

Each fitting is a visit to the shop, so the fittings put dates in your calendar. One fitting tells you whether a suit fits, and two tell you whether the correction worked. The first fitting is on a basted suit, held with long temporary stitches so a shoulder can be opened and moved. The calendar is set by your availability more than by the work. A rush order costs you fittings, not construction. The page on how many fittings a suit takes sets out the ordinary schedule.

03

What to check about proof, price and terms

Check four things about proof, price and terms: the reviews, the price, the deposit and what happens if the suit doesn't fit. They cover what you can verify, what you're told and what you get in writing.

Reviews you can follow to Google

A review you can follow to its Google original lets you check it for yourself on Google. Google holds the full set of reviews, including any that are not five stars. Read the full set there as well as the reviews a shop shows. Reviews describe the experience people had rather than auditing the garment. Google shows 4.8 from 22 reviews for the shop that publishes this guide. The shop's reviews page lists the reviews the shop publishes, every review linked to its Google original.

A price explained before the order

A price explained before the order is one where you can see what you're paying for. That means you can name the cloth book, you know whether the jacket is canvassed, and you know how many fittings are included. A quote that doesn't answer all three is unreadable. Three things move what a tailored suit costs: the cloth, how the jacket is built and what you're having made. The page on what sets the price of a bespoke suit explains all three.

Deposit and payment terms in writing

Ask for the deposit and payment terms in writing before the cloth is cut, because cutting is the moment after which nobody's options are open. Ask these three questions:

  • How much is due today, and how much on collection?
  • Is the deposit refundable, and up to which point?
  • Does the price include the fittings and any corrections afterwards?

The page on deposits and payment lists these questions to ask.

What happens if the suit does not fit

You bring the suit back, and the pattern it was cut from is still at the shop. A fit problem is the suit not matching your body, and the tailor puts it right. A taste problem is a suit that matches your body but not what you pictured. Say which one you think it is, and you'll get a straighter conversation. Ask at the order what corrections cost. The page on if it does not fit sets out what to do.

How the shop in the station answers each check

The shop answers each check that a page of this site answers, and the table marks the rest to ask at the order. The deposit terms and the cost of corrections are for you to ask at the order. The Loft Bespoke Tailor is inside BTS National Stadium station, beside MBK Center, at Exit 3 and 4 on Rama I Road. The shop is open 10am to 9pm every day, and it's not inside the mall.

The table lists the seven checks in the first column and what the shop does for each in the second.

CheckWhat the shop does

The shop's bespoke suits in Bangkok come with a pattern cut for you, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard. Getting to the shop from MBK Center takes about 6 minutes on foot from the middle of the mall (Google Maps, checked 23 October 2026).

Put the seven questions to the shop on WhatsApp at 085 048 7655, or walk in daily; the shop's contact page has the map.

Questions people ask

How to choose a tailor?
To choose a tailor, run seven checks and use the same seven on every shop. The seven are the jacket, the pattern, the fittings, the reviews, the price, the deposit terms and what happens if the suit doesn't fit. Each check is one question, so you can compare the answers from one shop to the next. You can make the reviews check from your phone before you walk in. The other six are made at the order, at the shop or on WhatsApp. This page is one of the shop's guides.
Where is the best place to get a tailored suit in Bangkok?
This guide doesn't rank tailors, so it can't pick one place in Bangkok for a tailored suit. The useful comparison is seven checks: jacket, pattern, fittings, reviews, price, deposit terms and what happens if the suit doesn't fit. Each check is one question, and the reviews check can be made from your phone. Make the same seven checks on each shop you're considering, and compare what you find. The guide on what to check before you choose a tailor in Bangkok covers choosing across the whole city.
How much should a tailored suit cost in Bangkok?
A tailored suit's price depends on the cloth, how the jacket is built and what is being made. A price is easier to judge once you can answer three questions: which cloth, how many fittings and whether the jacket is canvassed. Canvassed means a chest layer of stiffened cloth is stitched between the outer cloth and the lining, not glued. A quote that doesn't answer all three is unreadable. Ask for those answers at the order, so you can compare quotes. The shop that publishes this guide quotes per order, so this guide gives no figure.
Who are the top 10 tailors in Bangkok?
This guide doesn't rank tailors, so it names no list of ten and no shop. The same seven checks work on any tailor: jacket, pattern, fittings, reviews, price, deposit terms and what happens if the suit doesn't fit. The checks cover how the suit is made, what you can verify and what you're told. Each check is one question, and the reviews check can be made from your phone before you walk in. Make the checks on each shop you're considering, and compare the answers.
What time does the MBK market close?
MBK Center closes at 10pm every day, according to its own site (as read 23 October 2026). The site is mbk-center.co.th/en, and hours can change, so check with the venue on the day you go. The shop in BTS National Stadium station, beside MBK Center, is open 10am to 9pm every day. Arrive at the shop before 9pm, and you can walk in without an appointment. The guide to a half day at MBK Center and the Siam centres covers the shopping day.
How do I check a tailor's reviews?
To check a tailor's reviews, open the reviews on Google and follow each one you rely on to its Google original. The full set is on Google, including any reviews that are not five stars. Read it as well as the reviews a shop shows you. Reviews describe the experience people had rather than auditing the garment, so judge the fit at your own second fitting. The shop's reviews page shows each review it publishes beside a link to the original on Google.
What should I ask a tailor before I pay a deposit?
Ask three questions before you pay a deposit. The first is how much is due today and how much on collection. The second is whether the deposit is refundable, and up to which point. The third is whether the price includes the fittings and any corrections afterwards. Ask them before the cloth is cut, because cutting is the moment after which nobody's options are open. Ask for the answers in writing. See the questions to ask about deposits for the full list.
How many fittings should a bespoke suit have?
Two fittings are standard at the shop in BTS National Stadium station. One fitting tells you whether a suit fits, and two tell you whether the correction worked. The first is on a basted suit, held with long temporary stitches so a shoulder can still be moved. The second is on the finished suit, with the shoes you will wear. Two to three days is the bench time, the sewing done once the pattern is cut. The calendar depends on when you can come back for the fittings. See the fitting schedule for the days between.
