Best tailor in Bangkok? What should you check before you choose?
Best tailor in Bangkok? No ranking can answer that for you. Six checks to make yourself: pattern, canvas, fittings, reviews, price and place.
- 4.8 from 22 Google reviews
- Tailoring in Bangkok since 2011

This guide doesn't rank tailors, so the question "best tailor in Bangkok?" gets six checks and not a name. Six checks tell shops apart: the pattern, the jacket, the fittings, the reviews, the price, and the terms and the place. This guide explains each check, then shows the answers of The Loft Bespoke Tailor in a table. For the shop itself — a paper pattern drafted for each customer, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard — see who runs the shop and how the work is done.
01
How to choose a tailor in Bangkok: six checks
To choose a tailor in Bangkok, make six checks: the pattern, the jacket, the fittings, the reviews, the price, and the terms and the place. Each check below says what to ask or look for.
The pattern: drafted for you, or adjusted from a block?
A pattern is either drafted for you, drawn for your body from nothing, or adjusted from a block that already exists in roughly your size. Bespoke is the first kind and made to measure is the second, so the word refers to the pattern, not the price. Ask the shop: "Is a paper pattern drafted for me, or is a block adjusted?" Make this check at the order. The page on how a suit is made lists all ten steps, and drafting the pattern is the second.
The jacket: canvassed or fused?
A canvassed jacket has a layer of stiffened cloth, the canvas, stitched between the outer cloth and the lining. A fused jacket has that layer glued instead. Fusing is a legitimate way to build a jacket, and the fault is a fused suit sold as bespoke. Ask at the order whether the jacket is fused or canvassed, and check the chest at a fitting. The guide to five checks on the suit itself hands the pinch test to a page of its own.
The fittings: how many, and when?
The shop includes two fittings as standard, and you agree the date of the first before you leave. The first is a basted fitting: the suit is held together with long stitches, so it can be taken apart and corrected. Two to three days is bench time once the pattern is cut, and the calendar around it depends on when you can come back. Ask what a rush order drops. In the twelve-hour express, the pattern is still cut for you and a fitting still happens, but you give up the second fitting. The page on how the fittings and turnaround work explains how the days depend on when you can come back.
The reviews: what a rating shows and what it does not
A rating shows what reviewers thought of a shop's manner and its speed, and it almost never shows how the jacket is built. The shop is rated 4.8 from 22 Google reviews. Read the reviews in full: each links to the original on Google, and Google holds the full set, including any that aren't five stars. A count shows how many people reviewed, not how a jacket is built; read the text of reviews for cloth, fit and speed. Judge the fit at your own second fitting, not from a stranger's five stars. Check that a reviewer is named, that the review links to the original, and that it says what was made.
The price: what it depends on
A suit's price depends on the cloth, how the jacket is built and what you're having made. The shop quotes per order, so this page gives no figure. Ask what the quote includes, such as the fittings and any corrections afterwards. A quote is comparable when it names the cloth book, says whether the jacket is canvassed and counts the fittings. The page on what sets the price explains how the cloth, the construction and the garment move a quote. The page on what a cheap suit saves on covers cloth, construction and hours.
The terms and the place: what to get in writing
Settle four things: the deposit terms, what happens if the suit doesn't fit, where the shop is and whether it measures at your hotel.
- Ask for the deposit terms in writing; deposits and payment lists the questions to ask.
- Ask whether corrections are free if the suit doesn't fit; what happens if a suit does not fit covers what to do.
- Check where a shop is and when it opens: The Loft Bespoke Tailor is inside BTS National Stadium station, open 10am to 9pm every day.
- Ask whether the tailor measures at your hotel; the shop does, in central Bangkok.

02
Is Bangkok good for tailored suits?
Bangkok is good for tailored suits when the cloth suits the heat, because the city is hot and humid for most of the year. A cloth chosen for a European winter will be worn twice. A lighter, more open weave hangs better here and recovers faster from a day of walking. Ask for the weight when you choose, because it's printed in the book. A city doesn't make a tailor good, so make the checks above wherever you order.

03
How The Loft answers the six checks
The shop answers the checks with bespoke suits in Bangkok that have a pattern cut for you, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard. The table below has eight rows, each with the shop's answer and the step you can take to verify it.
| Check | What the shop does | How you can verify it |
|---|---|---|
| Pattern | The shop drafts a paper pattern from your measurements, and the cloth is cut to it. | Ask at the order: "Is a paper pattern drafted for me, or is a block adjusted?" |
| Jacket | The jacket is canvassed, with the canvas stitched in, not glued. | Ask at the order whether the jacket is canvassed, and check the chest at a fitting. |
| Fittings | The shop includes two fittings as standard, and the first is on a basted suit. | Agree the date of the first fitting before you leave; the calendar after that depends on when you can come back. |
| Reviews | The shop is rated 4.8 from 22 Google reviews. | Open the reviews page: each review links to the original on Google, which holds the full set. |
| Price | The shop quotes per order and publishes no figure on this page. | Ask what the quote includes; you have the figure before anything is cut. |
| Place | The shop is inside BTS National Stadium station, at Exit 3 and 4 on Rama I Road, beside MBK Center. | The shop is in the station rather than on the street below, in front of the ticket office on the ticket-hall level. |
| Hours | The shop is open 10am to 9pm every day. | Walk in any day in those hours; you don't need an appointment. |
| Hotel and shipping | The shop measures at your hotel in central Bangkok, and it ships finished garments abroad. | Ask about both before you plan around either. |
The same checks apply to a women's suit, which the shop cuts the same way as the men's: from your own pattern, with two fittings.

Looking for a tailor near MBK Center or Siam?
Yes, the shop is inside BTS National Stadium station, beside MBK Center and a walk from Siam Paragon. Each of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Siam Discovery, Siam Center and Siam Square has its own page with the walk. Two guides cover choosing a tailor at MBK Center and a half day at MBK Center and Siam. The rest are listed under all our guides.

Questions people ask
- Who are the top 10 tailors in Bangkok?
- This guide doesn't rank tailors, so it doesn't list ten, and The Loft Bespoke Tailor doesn't claim a place on anyone's list. Shortlist three shops instead. Put the same questions to each about the pattern, the jacket, the fittings, the reviews, the price and the terms. The quickest to compare are the pattern, the jacket and the number of fittings. The shop's answers to those three are a pattern cut for you, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard. Hold every shop to the same list, and compare the answers.
- Who is the best suit tailor in Bangkok?
- This guide doesn't name a single suit tailor as the answer, because the right one depends on what you're ordering and by when. A suit you need in a few days, a wedding months away and a suit to ship home each raise different questions. Checks on the pattern, the jacket and the number of fittings narrow the field. The shop makes no claim of rank. The shop's own answers are a pattern cut for you, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard. Compare those answers with any other shop's.
- How much should a tailored suit cost in Bangkok?
- A tailored suit costs what its cloth, its construction and the garment add up to, so one figure can't fit every suit. Ask what the quote includes and what the deposit is. Then compare two quotes from different shops for the same cloth and the same construction. The Loft Bespoke Tailor in Bangkok quotes per order, and you have the figure before anything is cut. A quote is comparable when it names the cloth book, says whether the jacket is canvassed and counts the fittings.
- Where is the best place to get a tailored suit in Bangkok?
- Pick a shop, not a place, because a mall, a station or a street doesn't make a suit. The pattern, the jacket and the fittings do. The shop is inside BTS National Stadium station, at Exit 3 and 4 on Rama I Road, beside MBK Center. It's on the ticket-hall level, in front of the ticket office, between the two exits. The address says where to find the shop, not which shop to choose. Put the same questions about the pattern, the jacket and the fittings to any shop you're considering.
- What should I ask a tailor on WhatsApp before I visit?
- Ask six things before you visit, such as the pattern, the jacket and the fittings. First, is the pattern drafted for you? Second, is the jacket canvassed? Third, how many fittings are included, and when do they happen? Fourth, what does the quote include? Fifth, what is the deposit, and is it in writing? Sixth, what happens if the suit doesn't fit? Put the same six questions to every tailor, this shop included. The shop's answers on the first three are a pattern cut for you, a canvassed jacket and two fittings as standard.
- How many fittings should a bespoke suit include?
- Ask for the number and the dates of the fittings before you order; the shop includes two fittings as standard. The first is a basted fitting, with the suit held together by long stitches so it can be corrected on you. The second checks the finished suit for length, break and balance. Two to three days is bench time once the pattern is cut, and the fitting dates depend on when you can come back. The page on fittings and turnaround sets out the days.
- Can a Bangkok tailor measure me at my hotel?
- Yes, the shop can measure you at your hotel in central Bangkok, and you book the visit on WhatsApp. The areas named are Siam, Pathum Wan, Ratchaprasong and Silom, and you can ask on WhatsApp if you're further out. The tailor comes with the cloth books and the tape, and you're measured over what you're wearing. Hotel measuring removes the first journey, not all of them, because the fittings are still done on you in the shop. The page on measuring at your hotel says what that changes and what it does not.
- Can a finished suit be shipped abroad?
- Yes, the shop ships finished garments abroad. Ask on WhatsApp which countries the shop ships to, what it costs and how long it takes, before you plan around it. Ordering from abroad is possible in some situations and risky in others, depending on whether the shop has ever measured you. A tailored suit depends on measurements checked on your body, not just taken. Your pattern is kept once you've ordered here, so a repeat order starts from a pattern already fitted on you. Ask how long the shop keeps it, particularly if it has been a while.
