Ask for the deposit and payment terms before ordering a bespoke suit. Below is what to ask, so that you settle it at the order rather than at the counter.
01
What you pay when
A deposit at the order with the balance on collection is the ordinary shape of it in this trade. Ask when you order:
- How much is due today, and how much on collection?
- Is the deposit refundable, and up to which point?
- Does the price quoted include the fittings and any corrections afterwards?
Get the answer before the cloth is cut, because cutting is the moment after which nobody’s options are open.
Ask the same questions of a rush order, where the schedule leaves less room to settle anything afterwards: an express suit in 12 hours.

02
How you can pay
Ask which payment methods are accepted. Ask on WhatsApp at 085 048 7655 before you travel if it matters to your plans — it is a one-line question with a one-line answer, and it is better asked from your hotel than discovered at the counter.
Payment usually lands on the days you are in the shop, so it is worth knowing how many those are: how many fittings a suit takes.

03
Paying from abroad
Ask the same questions, and weigh them more heavily here, because paying before you have been measured means paying before anyone has seen you. If you have ordered here before, your pattern is on file and the risk is largely gone — the pattern your numbers become. If you have not, read ordering from abroad, and in particular the section on risk, before you send money for a garment that has never been fitted on you.

04
If you change your mind
The dividing line is the cut. Before the cloth is cut, a change of mind is a conversation. After it, the cloth has been consumed for your pattern and cannot be returned to the book, which is true at every tailor and is the reason deposits exist at all. Ask the shop what it does about a cancellation, along with the questions above. Ask them all in one message, at the order.
If you are not coming to the shop at all, settle the terms before the visit is booked — measuring at your hotel.

Questions people ask
- What deposit do you take?
- Ask at the order: how much is due today, how much on collection. Get it settled before the cloth is cut, because cutting is the moment after which nobody’s options are open. Get it on the order sheet rather than in conversation, which makes any later discussion a short one for both sides.
- What payment methods are accepted?
- Ask on WhatsApp at 085 048 7655 before you travel if it matters to your plans. It is a one-line question with a one-line answer. It is better asked from your hotel than discovered at the counter.
- Is the deposit refundable?
- Ask, and ask before you pay it rather than after. The dividing line at every tailor is the cut: before the cloth is cut a change of mind is a conversation, and after it the cloth has been consumed for your pattern and cannot go back into the book. Ask the shop what it does about a cancellation before you pay the deposit.
- Can I pay from abroad?
- Ask the same questions, and weigh them more heavily, because paying before you are measured means paying before anyone has seen you. If you have ordered here before, your pattern is on file and the risk is largely gone. If you have not, read the ordering-from-abroad page, and in particular the part about risk, before sending money.
- Does the price include the fittings?
- It is the third question to ask at the order, alongside the deposit and the refund terms. Ask all three in one message. Two fittings are standard here, and what you want confirmed is that they and any corrections afterwards are inside the quoted figure. Confirm it before the cloth is cut rather than at collection.
- When do I pay the balance?
- Ask at the order. In this trade the balance is commonly due on collection. Ask it in the same message as the deposit question so both answers arrive together.
- What if I change my mind after ordering?
- Before the cloth is cut, say so immediately and it is a conversation. After it, the cloth is yours whether the suit is finished or not, at every tailor, which is the reason deposits exist at all. Ask at the order what the shop does about a cancellation. Every day after the order narrows what can be done about it.
- Will I get a receipt or an order sheet?
- Ask for one, and ask that it names the cloth book, the construction and the number of fittings. That is not a formality: a written order sheet is what makes any later conversation about what you were promised a short one. It costs nothing to ask for.

What a customer said
5 out of 5 stars
My entire family made suits and shirts with The Loft Tailors. Very good value and Mr Sun was very helpful with the whole process. The turnaround was extremely quick, and the shop is located at the station next to MBK which is really convenient. Will definitely return!
